I'm getting better!
I went to the Tri Club swim at La Jolla Shores last night and it was definitely my best swim to date. They had a group for beginners and gave us tips for our upcoming tris. We practiced quickly getting into the water with dolphin dives under the waves a few times and I was the first one out each time. Then we swam parallel to the shore for a while and then back the other way. I'm not sure how far it is (about half a mile if not more) but I feel confident I'll be OK for the 5/8 mile swim at Carlsbad. I'll get 3 more swim practices in before the race assuming all goes well. Noah brought Chinese food over last night and I found out that sweet and sour chicken didn't mix so well with the gallons of salt water I'd swallowed during the swim. This is also possibly what is making my ankles swell occasionally? I consume A LOT of salt on my swims! Training for a triathlon really takes a lot of time. This week's schedule - Monday: La Jolla Shores swim. Tuesday: Track Club workout. Wednesday: run. Thursday: bike in the morning, run in the evening. Friday: morning bike ride and La Jolla Cove swim. Saturday: Track club ran (this weekend 4th of July race). Sunday: bike ride. Full but fun so far!

Europe, here I come!
With less than month before we leave for Europe, Noah and I are finally getting around to booking the second half of our trip. Last night I spent hours researching hotels in Aubenas, Montelimar and Valence in hopes of finding a hotel room that hadn't been snatched up by fellow Tour de France watchers. I found and booked a hotel in Valence which is about 1 1/2 hours from Aubenas just so we'd have somewhere to stay in case we couldn't find anything closer. I finally resorted to going to the websites for the various Aubenas hotels and emailing them as best I could in French. One wrote back and we're booked! Or at least I think we are. All they needed to reserve the room was our name and when we would be arriving. No credit card. we don't get a confirmation number. Let's hope we have a room when we get there! Aubenas looks like a very cute little town. I'm probably more excited about going there than anywhere else in Europe. There's still much to do: we need to book the Barcelona hotel, buy a travel blow dryer (I'm going to have these pictures forever, I'm going to look cute!), get all the stuff we'll need to convert our electronics to Europe sockets, buy the rail tickets to get from place to place... Very exciting.
I've also decided to do the Las Vegas marathon in December since it's the same weekend as the rodeo and we'll be there anyway. It should be interesting to see all the people still out from the night before while I'm running...

I can't believe it's only Tuesday...
This is officially the longest week ever. And it's only Tuesday. I'm successfully avoiding working by planning Prescott's Friday Day O' Fun and reading other blogs. And dreaming about what would happen if I just didn't go to my meeting tonight. I think it's not a good sign that my meeting starts in less than 2 hours and I'm pretty much completely checked out. I know the meeting will start late, drag on for 4 hours and end with not much of anythin gbeing taken care of. And then I get to to it again tomorrow. And next Wednesday. My job dissatisfaction is seriously starting to take a toll on my work. It's hard to do a good job when you just don't care anymore.
This weekend I have Half Mad training - maybe up to 5 miles, this just might kill me after this morning's run) and then a BBQ in Santee. I hear this is far away but I've never actually been. Then hopefully just a lazy Sunday. I'm voting for nice enough weather to go to the beach or rain.
I would be more productive if I could search for jobs at work.
I'm now wondering what "Imao" is... It's short for something, I just can't figure out what. It takes me a while sometimes. Like I just got that Britney's new song "If U Seek Amy" actually is "FUCK me". I think it's a little odd they play this song on the radio. 12 year olds these days have to be a little wuicker than me when it comes to this stuff. I sound old.
Anyway the "Imao" was in response to my Facebook posting about punching Noah. In my dream I was trying to get away from someone (I don't think it was Noah) and he grabbed the window of my car and I couldn't go anywhere so I started punching his arm with my free hand. Sorry Noah, it was a very realistic dream.
I'm looking out my window watching man in a suit ride a very small bike...
